Annual Meeting
Minutes of August 23, 2009 @ 3:00PM

The meeting was called to order by President Roger Cook
Board members in attendance: Roger Cook, Roger Abbott, Steve Ciepiela, Nick Manole, Jack Oestreicher, Carole Rising, Woody Owens
Board members absent: Dave Bentley, Dee Acree
A quorum was present as there well over 20 members present
Roger Cook opened the meeting the meeting by introducing the board members.
Roger talked about our web site, the “Group Email” system, the neighborhood Police/Citizen Patrol program, the Block Captains program, and other board programs/activities. Roger mention that our dues where increased by $10 to reflect the increase in police cost. Roger introduced our district 8 councilor, Trudy Jones, who gave a report. Burt Guerrero also gave a short update on the importance of the Block Captain program in controlling crime in our neighborhood.
Nominations for new board members: Jack Oestreicher, chairman of the Nomination Committee, described the nomination process. Following all the requirements in the by-laws, the Nomination Committee put forth the slate of new board members. A motion was made and seconded to nominate Dave Bentley, Carole Rising, Burt Guerrero each to a 3 year term (Sept. 2009 –Sept. 2011).
The membership voted to accept the above nominations with no opposing votes, officially approving the above nominations.
The meeting was ended, followed by the neighborhood picnic.

Glenwood Hills Neighborhood Association Annual Meeting
The meeting was called to order at 3:10 by President Nick Manole
Board members in attendance: Roger Abbott, Dee Acree, Dave Bentley, Steve Ciepiela, Roger Cook, Nick Manole, Jack Oestreicher, Carole Rising
Board members absent: Woody Owens
A quorum was present as there were well over 20 members present. Approximately 37 different households were represented with 6 of these from Calle de Carino as they were interested in a rumor that something was to be built on the empty lot along Tramway behind their property.
Nick opened the meeting and had all board members introduce themselves. Roger Abbott gave an overview of the new website and asked people to sign-up. Nick gave a summary of all of the things we do with the membership dues and encouraged everyone to pay their dues if they hadn’t already. Marc LeChey gave more details about the police patrols that we pay for out of the membership funds.
By-Laws amendments:
Article IV Section 1: add the words ‘residences and’ as shown below in bold.
Purpose: To reflect in the by-laws a long standing policy that neighboring residents can participate in the GHNA if they so desire. This would include such properties as Glenwood Lofts, the section of High Dessert that is just north of Glenwood Hills North, properties in Glenwood Pointe, etc.
For the purposes of these By-Laws, the Glenwood Hills Neighborhood shall consist of units 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 of the Glenwood Hills Subdivision, the Glenwood Hills North Subdivision, and the Tierra Amada Townhouses. Membership in the GHNA shall be open to owners of property in the Glenwood Hills Neighborhood and individuals residing on property in the Glenwood Hills Neighborhood. Membership is also open to residences and businesses located on property that is adjacent to the Glenwood Hills Neighborhood. Each single piece of property or single business shall have no more than one membership in the GHNA.
The membership voted to pass the above amendment with 3 opposing votes.
Article VII Section 2: add the words ‘Website, Block Captain’ as shown below in bold.
Purpose: Recognition of the importance and ongoing need for recently formed committees.
The standing committees shall be Membership, Neighborhood Patrol, Website, Block Captain and Hospitality.
The membership voted to pass the above amendment with no opposing votes.
Nominations for new board members: Steve Ciepiela, Nick Manole and Jack Oestreicher were nominated by the Nominating Committee adhering to all requirements in the by-laws. Their nominations are for 3 year terms (Sept. 2008 – Sept. 2011).
The membership voted to accept the above nominations with no opposing votes.
New Business:
Several questions were raised by members:
· Why does the
o The homes on Trailhead road, east of Glenwood Hills Dr.are part of
· What is the status of landscaping between Sheree and Glenwood Hills Drive?
o The neighborhood is considering paying for cleaning this up and keeping it cleaner
· What can be done about trash behind Smiths’s and the Self-Storage facility? There is a lot of trash especially behind the Self-Storage facility.
o This appears to be an issue with the Self Storage facility and/or the owner of the property (which we think may be Smith’s). The person who asked this question was directed to follow-up with the manager of the Self Storage unit and with Smith’s.
· Is something going to be built along on the empty strip of land on the east side of Tramway between the Giant gas station and
o No. This is state property and it has many utilities right-of-ways on it. There are no plans to build anything on it. We are trying to determine if there is some way to stop vehicles from driving there.
The meeting was ended at 4 pm, followed by the neighborhood picnic.
